Islam is practical and spiritual religion which is spread in every nook and corner of the world by practical means. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) himself traveled to several places along with His Companions. Presently there are many places which are linked to Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) himself, His family and Companions so they called Islamic Places of the World. And all the Muslims are very connected to these places and even after centuries we pay a visit to these places for the admiration of efforts of Holy Prophet. These sacred places are considered as very important in Islam because all these places have their religious, spiritual and historic values and most importantly they were important in the life of Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Some of these holy places are mentioned here.
Masjid ul Haraam, The Holy Kaaba is believed to be the house of Allah in Mecca. This place has existed since the time of the creation of Earth. Kaaba is the Holiest place of Muslims, who every year come here to perform Hajj which is the one of the basic pillar of Islam. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) started the preaching of Islam from that very place in 640 CE.
After the migration to Medina from Mecca Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) laid down the foundation of mosque and run the administration of Islam from the Masjid un Nabvi. This mosque is also known as the Mosque of Prophet. It is considered as the second holiest place of Muslims as it is the final resting place of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Muslims who came for Hajj must pay visit to this mosque to pay their tribute and recite Salam to the Holy Prophet of entire world who blessed them with this beautiful religion that we call Islam.
The importance of Jerusalem in Islam is because of Majid e Aqsa, which was primarily the qibla for Muslims to perform salat, but was later changed to masjid-ul-haraam. Jerusalem is equally significant and religiously important for all three Holy religion i.e Islam, Christianity and Judaism because this place is associated with the memory of Prophet Suleiman, Moussa, mother of Prophet Essa (A.S) and most importantly Masjid e Aqsa was the primary destination of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) at Mairaj/Isra joyrney/miracle.
Cave Hira (Ghar e Hira) is situated at Jabl e Noor in Mecca. It is the place where angel Jibrael (Gabriel) came to Prophet and give the message of Allah in the form of Quran (Some Verses of Quran). It was the practice of Prophet to come to Cave Hira before the announcement of Prophet Hood to solitude and observation of universe, and even afterwards. This cave has importance among Muslims because the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) spent many days and night here. People climb up to this Cave to feel the spirituality of this holy place.
It is an ancient Holy place of Muslims. It is actually a Cave famously known as Cave of Ashab e Kahaf in Jordan. They were 7 persons who hide themselves in the cave from ruler to save their lives and religion, Allah gave them a sleep for 300 years in a cave and kept them alive. After 300 years these seven saints wakeup and told this miracle to people and new ruler to make their faith and Emaan strong.
Jannat ul Baqi and Jannat ul Muala are two graveyards in Medina and Mecca respectively.These graveyards are important in Islam because many of the companions of Holy Prophet are rested in both of these places. According to Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) on the Day of Judgment I will come along with Abu Baker , Umer (R.A) and all those who’re buried in Jannat ul Baqi and Jannat ul Muala. And there are many Blessings for those who are rested in Jannat ul Baqi.
It is the place in Mecca opposite to Holy Kaaba from where Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S) had built the structure of Kaaba. It is order of Allah that all the pilgrims must offer two rakaat Salah behind the Maqam e Ibrahimi. The Foot print of Prophet Ibrahim (A.s) are preserved on stone at this place, people visits this place to feel the spiritual significance of this place.
Masjid e Quba is the first official mosque of Islam in the city of Medina laid by Prophet (PBUH) himself. The importance of this mosque can be imagined according to prophet Muhammad one who can offer nafil in Masjid e Quba, the blessing and reward he will be awarded is equivalent to the blessings of Umrah.
Masjid e Qiblatain has its own history in Islam. It is is place where Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was ordered by Allah to change his direction (Qibla) for Salah from Masjid e Aqsa to Masjid ul Haraam (The Holy Kaaba) during the Zohar namaz.
Safa and Marwah are two mountains in Mecca near to Kaaba. The history of these two mountains is related to Prophet Ismail (A.s) and his mother Bibi Hajra and Zamzam water. Pilgrims are ordered to copy the action of Bibi hajra i.e to complete seven rounds between these two mountains in her memory during Umrah and Hajj.
